Or

“Shush! You’ll wake up the band.”

A comedy drama with tragic echoes charting Seren Goch community football club on tour in Cork, May 2007.

Hollywood’s strongest team of celebrities tackle the cast of Committee Heavyweights, Hangers On and players from the little known club in St Thomas, Swansea. A tale of intrigue, deception, lies, explosive vomiting - but no hot torrid sex scenes!

Cast............................

George Clooney plays Mike Burrows world weary member of the Supporters Club, who wants one more jump before the Swans gain promotion (since I am writing this, I have first choice)

Brad Pitt in his most demanding role yet, and 36 hours in make-up, plays hanger-on Steve Coughlin, a hard bitten cynic who loves to humiliate men who eat pies.

Matt  Damon smiles his way effortlessly through the 120 minutes as rookie Chris Gwilym, pulling birds from the wilderness of the North East of England. And women too.

Don Cheadle surpasses himself as Ben Challis. Although he’s black, he is perfect as the smooth talking welshman who wanders, sober and drunk, from room to room talking to himself in the former mental hospital, now called The Quality Hotel.

Bernie Mac steals many scenes with his interpretation of that big, complex personality, shopaholic and tattoo fiend, James Woods.

Andy Garcia is superb as hustler and shangai legend Leon Reynolds who cried when he finally found a pub that opened at 6 in the morning. Garcia had to act even more emotional when Reynolds realised the coach was leaving at 7.

Ellen Birkin, an Oscar winner, is awesome as transexual (it’s the only way to fit them all in) John “Rambo” Davies when he frightened the hotel bar staff with his cry  “I am hungry!”

Al Pacino pulls out all the stops to be Patrick Burrows, club treasurer, The Las Vegas fast-talking gambler, dodged customs playing a corpse on the Ferry to Rosslare.

Casey Affleck acts her way into trousers as Billy Burrows with a sensitive tummy and the only tourist to sleep in someone else’s bed - his father’s!

Scott Caan is Chris Lake. No one else could pull the heart strings of the audience and still be useless at shangai.

Scott Caan is evil personified as Craig Green. The scene where he disappears to the swimming pool for a break from boozing, and sneaks in some training before next season is alarming.

Eddie Jamison slips into the role of Swansea ambassador Craig Fisher with no difficulty as the ginger monster manoeuvres the gang away from the Cork police and pub bouncers only armed with a digital camera and a stupid swimming cap.

Newcomer Shaobo Qin was given the huge role of Andrew Draper, famous restaurant critic who is Gordon Ramsay’s very worst nightmare.

Veteran Carl Reiner fits like a glove into the shape of  Club stalwart Paul Burrows, who never forgot his lines or strayed away from the bar for very long.

Elliot Gould brings up the rear of the gang as Allan Cotter with his usual charm which only broke into MASH burlesque, with vulgar shouts of “Rooney! Rooney! Rooney!” late in the film.
